NextSpark Hacks Rules 1. Eligibility

Participants must meet the age, location, and other eligibility requirements listed on the hackathon page. Beginners and experienced builders are welcome. You may participate individually or in a team of up to four people.

Organizers and judges may not compete for prizes.

2. Project Development

Projects must be created during the official submission period. Planning and brainstorming beforehand are allowed, but submitting a previously completed project is not.

Existing libraries, frameworks, APIs, and publicly available assets are allowed when used according to their licenses and properly credited.

3. AI Tools

AI tools may be used for coding, design, research, or other development tasks. Explain how you used them in your submission and distinguish your contributions from generated or pre-existing work. You should understand and be able to explain your project.

4. Submission Requirements

Submit your project through Devpost before the published deadline. Each submission must include:

  • A project description explaining the problem, solution, and development process.
  • A public source-code repository with setup instructions.
  • A 1–3 minute demo video accessible to judges.
  • At least one project screenshot.
  • A list of technologies, resources, and AI assistance used.

A live demo link is encouraged but optional. Clearly identify incomplete features and simulated functionality.

5. Originality and Ownership

Submit only work you created or have permission to use. Credit outside code, designs, datasets, and other resources. Participants retain ownership of their original work.

Do not include passwords, API keys, private information, or materials you are not authorized to share.

6. Judging

Projects will be evaluated on:

  • Creativity: How thoughtful and original is the approach?
  • Impact: Does the project address a meaningful problem for a clear audience?
  • Technical execution: Does the prototype work, and how well is it built?
  • User experience: Is the project understandable and easy to use?

Projects will be judged on what is demonstrated and submitted, rather than promised future features.

7. Respectful Participation

Treat participants, organizers, and judges with respect. Harassment, discrimination, threats, bullying, and sharing someone’s private information without permission are not allowed.

Do not attempt to access or disrupt another participant’s accounts, devices, or projects. Report concerns through the organizer contact listed on the hackathon page.

8. Fair Play

Plagiarism, false claims, judging manipulation, and misrepresenting team contributions may result in disqualification. Organizers may request clarification or a demonstration to verify a submission.

9. Prizes and Updates

Only prizes confirmed on the official hackathon page are offered. Any prize-specific eligibility or delivery conditions will be published there.

Clarifications and necessary event updates will be announced through Devpost. Participants should review announcements before submitting.
